when I was a school librarian--I camped it up asking the kids to imagine Thor as the size and build of a pro wrestler with a full beard. I had them rolling on the flooe.

I also did a paper on the role of Norse women and especially queens (the virtues for which queens were praised for were the same as kings: generosity and brains).  I Had a horribly misogynistic professor for the class (my hands  tended to curve into claws and go for his throat..yes, he was that bad... and when someone asked me if "d finished the bellydancing outfit, Herr Professor Douchebag said, "Oh you should have the young lasy you made it for model it for us!"  I looked at him and smiled. "I wore it at a revel held at a monsatry. I nearly gave an old monk heart failure.") So I chose an extremely feminist topic, and researched the hell out of it. My sources were impeccable and included a number of the saga.  He HAD to give me an A.  But he whined about my wretched typing.  Apparently women are born with the ability of typing 100wopm on an electric typewriter.

I used that same research for one of my short stories in Amazona II.

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.
