      It is pure Darwinian evolution in action.  "News" organizations make every effort to hire corporate shills or those with potential in that direction.  If they show "whistleblower" tendencies, their work never makes it to print.  If the news some how leaks out the club closes ranks to silence the malefactor.  Perhaps "your students" have never brought this to your attention because they recognize you as part of the problem and any such assertions would be met with, at best, derision or, at worse, a career killing blow.

      You have the right to remain silent. If you waive that right you will be accused of class warfare.

        Spoken as someone who knows umpteen journalists.

        I will say that the profession doesn't seem to push reporters to be investigators during their tenure on smaller papers or such operations.
