OK, things seem to be looking good, but we cannot afford to be complacent.

This may just be a story to attract readers, but complacency does not pay.
Aren't there more Republicans committed to voting in every election?

      •  I can't read the Cook article... (0+ / 0-)

As it's behind a pay wall, but reading the CS Monitor piece, I have no idea how they justify a toss-up race. The only things that Jennifer Duffy (who deals with the Senate rankings) seems to say to try to justify it is "oooh Ed Markey hasn't run a tough campaign in forever" and "ooooh, Scott Brown won Independents!!!!" and "ooooh, Congress is unpopular!!!!" Outside of that, everything else she says points to a race that's, at minimum, Leans Democratic.

This reminds me of Hawaii's senate race in 2012, for a very long time, Cook was convinced that the race was a toss-up, (now-Senator Mazie Hirono would go on to win that race 63-37 fyi) and at least in Hawaii, he could go on the fact that Republicans nominated their strongest possible candidate, here there's literally no justification.

A lot of people are going to have a lot of egg on their face after this election, that's my prediction.
