commonmass, are you familiar with Thomas Lauderdale, band leader for Pink Martini?  I'm a huge fan of both the musician and the band...

Thomas is classically trained, influenced by all sorts of fantastic world rhythms and melodies and harmonies, brilliantly musical...and has always been very "out" and gay as far back as I remember, and I don't think it's ever held back anyone from loving his talent, music, and outgoing personality.  The band is very popular in the US & in Europe.  Apart from all the arranging, composing, musical archaeology, and bandleading/performing he does with Pink Martini, Thomas plays the most incredible, inspired performances of Gershwin's Concerto in F and Rhapsody in Blue.  I think maybe he is a reincarnated young Mozart or young Gershwin sometimes!  Maybe he is a version of who Liberace would have become in a modern world.

Thought you might enjoy checking it out if you haven't already.
