try to type with tears in my eyes. Something about his books touched such a deep level of meaning for me. Iain had a way of expressing the most profound ideas in little offhand comments. I read Excession over 20 times, I don't know why, something touches me in that book. A trillion year old object, the smallest unit of time one can measure, traveling 150,000 times the speed of light, etc.

Don't limit yourself to the Culture novels only. The Algebraist is a masterpiece, a story about creatures that live for billions of years in gas giants along with AI wars. Just brilliant. The tragic ending of Matter, combining a medieval planet with high technology.

I had so many questions for him, where did he get these ideas? But alas, a genius is gone, someone most people on the planet will never hear about, only us lucky few.

The only foes that threaten America are the enemies at home, and those are ignorance, superstition, and incompetence. - Elbert Hubbard -9.62/-8.15
