it could be nearly impossible to stop. I suppose the question is what percentage of the population in a particular neighborhood would have to be doing it, in order to reach the point where any attempts by the police to stop it would be ineffective or even backfire.

The most serious problem in American politics today is that people with wrong ideas are uncompromising, and people with good ideas are submissive and unwilling to fight. Change that, and we might have a real democracy again.

it would start in a city.  NYC, for example, is the loudest city I've ever slept in.  And I've stayed in Hong Kong too.  NYC is louder.

Especially since NYC is known for having a brash and in-your-face culture. I can totally see it working there.

I suspect it would be harder to get it to work in Washington D.C. Even the architecture (low buildings, less density), would work against it in D.C.

going on in Turkey without specific consideration here. I can see why DC would be harder and NYC easier. But just about any major city, Chicago, Philly, etc. has some area that is somewhat open, surrounded by a lot of apartment buildings.

This might lead protesters to consider where to stage the main protest. In Denver, the Capitol building is traditional, but just around it there are almost no apartments. Plenty of honking by passing traffic. There are some open areas in LoDo that are surrounded by all kinds of apartments, condos etc. LoDo also does not allow Frackenlooper to use state police so easily.

I think smaller towns would depend on local conditions. How much trouble there has been over demonstrations before. Maybe have a logo that people could put on a piece of fabric and place in a window, car antenna, etc.
