  •  My mom and one grandmother both whinged at (7+ / 0-)

me for YEARS about my long hair. This was while grandma still HAD her long hair, too!

I don't know, maybe they thought it looked too hippie-dippie? Not that I was a DFH, nowhere near! At least in grandma's case, she may have thought it looked old-fashioned? She never really said. I also don't remember Mama ever saying particularly what she didn't like; that at least may have been because she thought it was hard to take care of (not); I do know that when I was REALLY little, Daddy wanted my hair long and she told him, sure, fine, YOU do the shampooing and combing and fiddling! (And he did.)

My grandma would haul me off for friends of hers to do home-perms and hacking on my summer visits; they were generally hideous.

I don't think I've ever had shorter hair that wasn't either hugely unflattering or tons of work. I've always thought my hair was one of my better features and they were always trying to get me to get rid of it...

Oh well. My DH also likes my hair long so I don't get any guff about it anymore, 8-) He even helps trim, and I'm going to try to get him to learn to braid, 8-), as my braids always end up off-center because of hauling them over my shoulder to finish in front where I can reach.

DH once told my mother that he married me for my hair! Lmao. It's been down to my waist during my marriage. I have to color it, of course, but so what.

I do French braids by lying on the bed with my head hanging over the edge. Trick is to do it quickly before you get dizzy=)

I can braid my hair in a single braid in the back by myself. Have no idea if it's crooked. Oops.  Fashion right now is a single long side braid =)
