    dividing Gen X.  Those born during the 60's tend to be more conservative--they never outgrew the conservative-is-cool, I-got-mine-and-screw-you ethos that they had picked up as impressionable young adults during the '80's.  Those born during the '70's (myself included), became adults post-Reagan, and have different priorities (think Chelsea Handler and Seth McFarlane--two celebrities around my age who are big-time liberals).  I would guess that the political divide is also along racial and class lines.  The younger you go, the more racially diverse and less well-off the population gets, hence the large-scale rejection of the teabaglicans.
