  •  It won't matter, long term. (3+ / 0-)

Because the conservatives here in Texas will just go back to running with a D next to their names, and we'll have the choice of conservative Republican or conservative Democrat to vote for.

Who the hell wants to be part of a political movement that has as its most obvious feature politically correct prune lipped moral scolds and incessant guilt trips about how much we all suck?

The thought that they could help ensure a Hillary Clinton victory in 2016 doesn't exactly thrill me.

Dogs from the street can have all the desirable qualities that one could want from pet dogs. Most adopted stray dogs are usually humble and exceptionally faithful to their owners as if they are grateful for this kindness. -- H.M. Bhumibol Adulyadej

    •  Not necessarily. (6+ / 0-)

We're a different state than we were when Democrats ruled. Our hispanic soon-to-be-plurality votes for liberal Democrats like Wendy Davis and the Castro brothers.

Hope you fall on your burger and fries.

are now those republicans and I won't forget they jumped ship. Actually they didn't change, they were always the way they were. They were Dixiecrats.

      •  Yes, and who will we vote for? (0+ / 0-)

When there is a conservative running as the D candidate and a conservative running as the R candidate?

Right now I'd bet our fairly mediocre D candidates in Texas are more liberal and progressive than our D candidates will be in 20 years when Texas is sending two Democratic Senators to Washington and sending its electoral votes to the D candidate.

There is NO reason at all to assume that just because our voters start voting against the GOP consistently that our actual elected officials will be any more liberal than they are NOW.

There's no magic formula that makes a person with a D next to their name liberal.  In fact, conservatives can run and win with that letter next to their name, quite easily.
