    He'll do fine as a Senator; I don't have any deep antipathy for him.  And I don't expect him to divorce himself from Wall Street, which is basically Newark's ticket out of the dumps.

    But sticking up for the hometown industry is not the same as endorsing their whole belief system.  If he wants to give Wall Street banks cozy tax deals, that's fine -- it's an NPV to Newark.  Endorsing greed-is-good politics, on the other hand, is way over the top.  He's a skilled politican; he should know how to draw the line between his local political exigencies and his broader policy directions.

    In the mean time, I'm backing Rush Holt in the primary if he runs (my preference as his district is right next door to me and liberal Democratic STEM types tend to go to the top of my list).  That's what primaries are for.
