and then say we can't reform the filibuster because of the conservative Democrats in the party.

Or discover at the last minute that they will filibuster the health care bill if it contains a public option.

    •  So demand Purity... (0+ / 0-)

      ...and get Majority Leader McConnell!

I don't much care for Booker...but he's immensely preferable to any douchebag the Thugs are liable to run...

      •  You are one of the bluest blue states. (0+ / 0-)

        Why does this argument apply?

The greatest voice is the voice of the people-speaking out-in prose, or painting or poetry or music; speaking out-in homes and halls, streets and farms, courts and cafes-let that voice speak and the stillness you hear will be the gratitude of mankind.

        •  By "Demand Purity" I mean... (0+ / 0-)

...that some folks are suggesting they'd not support Booker if he was the eventual nominee, if enough Dems stay away from the polls over purity, we could wind up with some Thug scumbag by default...

We might be "one of the bluest states," but the folks here are awfully conservative, and a lotta white people are racist assholes that throw around the N-word when they think "none of them" are listening, enough negative effects and it adds up to a loss of the seat.

find a guy with better policies--a Democrat--and run him.

Better economic policies. Blue economic policies.

And if he's not white, so much the better. I'm all for diversifying the Senate, but not at the expense of good policy.

What I don't get is this notion that we can't find black men and women to run who share the views of most of the people in the CBC, 90% of whom I'd be glad to support for any office.
