      It's a private school. SUNYs and CUNYs are public.

      People also tend not to realize that students in many of those countries do go into heavy debt. Take Sweden for instance. Most students I met from there were taking out $10k a year. I'm not saying that we fund Higher Ed. well or that loans aren't a problem. They are in states like Michigan where the tuition is $15k. I'm only pointing out that in certain states with a Democratic history, we have good social support. Similarly, in Europe, they have countries with horrendous social welfare systems and very low support for education.
