    Is that the government is destroyed as long as the filibuster remains in place.  Some Democrats don't seem to understand that.  The Democrats who do understand that should band together and make it much more explicit that the Senate cannot function if the filibuster rules do not change.

    •  Does anyone believe that Republicans would not (8+ / 0-)

      kill the filibuster if they were able to gain control of the Senate?  They are pushing to prorate electoral votes in swing/blue states, they have gerrymandered swing/blue states to gain total control to push through their agenda with no compromise.  Why would they refrain from getting rid of the 60 vote threshold the minute they have 51 votes?

        Because there would probably be just enough Republicans with memories of what it is like to be in the minority and fear that will be the case again in the future, the same motivation that sparks Democrats such as Pat Leahy to oppose filibuster reform.
