  •  GOP donors want immigration reform (2+ / 0-)

Corporate donors controlling both parties want it to increase the pool of cheap workers and drive down wages in skilled professions. Members of both parties in Congress will personally benefit. Immigration reform is too lucrative for either party to turn down.

Good old fashioned scandalmongering seems to be their weapon of choice these days.

don't control the Tea-Party caucus. The crazy wing of the GOP hates the corporate types and the very ones who'll resist any reform in the House answer to them. The GOP engineered these deep-red, gerrymandered districts and then the concentration of conservatives elected a pack of hard-line loonies like Bachmann and King. It's a monster of their own creation. Now, when they actually want something useful (to them) to happen that conflicts with Tea-Party ideology so openly, they're losing out to the people who actually elected the loonies because they were, after all, one of those people themselves.

And so, the civil war in the GOP continues apace.
