set  the complete groundwork for a police state by the end of his second term.

And, yes, this could only have been accomplished by a silver tongued democrat in the White House. You Merkins got blind sided and sucker punched...

Many administrations could have gone to China.

But Nixon's cred as a conservative made it easier for him to deal with anti-China critics back home than it might have been for more liberal China-philes.

In the same vein, many adminstrations could have created a police state.  Indeed, with the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001, GW Bush laid a solid foundation for a police state.

But it is Pres. Obama, with the backing of the democratic party, and the solid foundation provided by Bush, who oversaw the construction of the entire police state structure.

The police state is up and running today.  The slogan "only Obama can create a police state" may yet take some years to become popular usage.

each have made changes that could ONLY have been accomplished at that time with their party affiliation. That's why we have the state of affairs we have now. CT not required - just those that hold the reigns of power doing what is best for their bottom lines.

Obama was put up for election because the natives had become restless under Bush II and needed to be appeased. Obama never walked his talk once he was in power. Even the much touted ObamaCare was in the best interests of the corporations that operate what passes for health care in the US.

The 1% fear the rabble more than they fear foreign terrorism. No country in the world is currently better prepared to put down dissent by it's citizens than the US is.

        •  I voted for Obama in 2008 (4+ / 0-)

I voted for Obama in 2008, so you can blame the police state on me.

In 2012, I understood that Obama did not represent my interests and voted Green Party instead.

I agree with you that both democrats and republicans have taken the actions that have largely eliminated our democratic system of government and replaced it with a government of and for the wealthy and corporate interests.

I see the distinction between democrats and republicans important primarily as a way for the 1% to divide the 99% from uniting to confront the 1% and their thieving.

        •  The US has no ability to put down dissent (0+ / 0-)

          It's not prepared at all.

          Not even a little bit.

This is due to fundamental philosophical errors on the part of the people in power.  They are such jackasses that they are alienating major elements within the surveillance establishment, within the military, within the police, etc.

Burma is prepared.  They treat their military like an elite caste of gods.

    •  This is already a police state. (0+ / 0-)

A particularly poorly managed police state, but anyone who lived in Russia under Kruschev recognizes it.
