is true.  In reality, not so much.  We all know that, our justice system is overloaded and broken by the war on drugs and the war on sex and the war on poor folks.

I still maintain that we need an adult conversation that includes the reality of successful terror attacks, which will continue until they stop engendering terror and just annoy the fuck out of people.

I've never believed there was safety, I had friends in Israel long before 9/11.  We have created an illusion that we can create safety, like we can build democracy in bronze age cultures, and it's time to blow both those myths out of the water and accept that life comes with dangers.  I drive every day, that could be fatal every day.  I don't expect the governor to clear the roads for me so I'll be safer.  I don't want the government to spy on everyone so I'll be safer.  That's all.

I'm not looking for a love that will lift me up and carry me away. A love that will stroll alongside and make a few amusing comments will suffice.

I never bought into it, so I don't actually understand the mentality which caused people to buy into the "national security state" bullshit.
