  •  No. I am saying that they are anecdotes. (0+ / 0-)

"It may just be a matter of time before you injure/kill yourself or someone else"

It may just be a matter of time before you go on a murdering rampage....looks like we should suspend Habeas Corpus.

It is just a matter of time before a terrorist uses a phone to coordinate an attack....we better support warrantless wiretaps.

It is just a matter of time before someone says something that will lead to violence....we should ditch the 1st amendment.

    Absurd.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

all of your examples are planned actions.

My comment was about accidents that have serious consequences.  We insist on driver's being licensed because car accidents can hurt or kill innocents.  We insist on inspections in workplaces because machine accidents can hurt or kill people.  We insist on safety inspections for the same reasons.  We insist on regulations on a wide variety of things, with insurance to fix things when accidents happen.

For some reason this country can't stand having even the slightest regulation or inspections verifying the safety of handling of guns.  That's just nuts, and I don't think there's any way you can see this, which is why I'd be more worried about your safety with weapons than mine - I'm going to be very careful should I ever have to handle one - and you don't seem to allow that accidents can and do happen with severe consequences which indicates you don't take the same precautions I would.  I don't know this to be a fact, but it sure seems that way and we can agree to stay away from each other and minimize the harm we can do to each other.
