    How does the judge justify allowing the defense team to enter this theory of defense? Why wasn't the defense attorney slapped down as soon as he tried to offer it? And what kind of instruction was the jury given that they could reasonably accept this defense? I understand "jury nullification," but it sounds like the judge and defense attorney both had to agree that this was a reasonable application of the law, and the prosecutor either didn't object, or the objections were overruled.
