    Text of the bill:

A  PERSON  IS  GUILTY  OF AGGRAVATED HARASSMENT OF A POLICE OFFICER OR
PEACE OFFICER WHEN, WITH THE INTENT TO HARASS, ANNOY, THREATEN OR  ALARM
A  PERSON  WHOM HE OR SHE KNOWS OR REASONABLY SHOULD KNOW TO BE A POLICE
OFFICER OR PEACE OFFICER ENGAGED IN THE COURSE  OF PERFORMING HIS OR HER
OFFICIAL DUTIES, HE OR SHE STRIKES, SHOVES, KICKS OR OTHERWISE  SUBJECTS
      SUCH PERSON TO PHYSICAL CONTACT.
While I could see this being abused by police officers and/or prosecutors - I'm guessing that if anyone actually decides to take the charge to court, in most cases it'll be thrown out as the prosecutor would have to prove that you intended to annoy the p.o. when you accidentally made physical contact with his fist.

While I do think making this a felony is overreach and will be urging my assemblyman to vote against it - if it passes, I don't think it'll change much.

to physical contact" is the key, worrying phrase here.

Assaulting a cop should be a felony, just like assaulting a teacher, a firefighter, the guy on the next barstool.

Police Officers do not need any more protection than anyone else needs. just to do their job.

They do a difficult job, and so do miners.

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.

        Who is twigg?
