  •  Hey, I have an idea! (9+ / 0-)

Let's show the two parties you can't get away with this crapola anymore.  How do we do it?  Simple.  Nobody votes.

Democrats go first, see, and lose to the Republicans, just to show 'em how it's done, and then, next election it's the Republicans' turn not to vote and...then...uh...ah....oh, never mind.

    •  Yes, I know... (0+ / 0-)

It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.

If people won't go protest in the streets, then they'll end up sleeping on them instead.

    •  With what the Republicans have been doing in (10+ / 0-)

those states where they control the legislature, if they ever take control of the Presidency and the Senate, I doubt that anyone would be allowed to vote except for the select few.

They're showing exactly what they'd do nation wide in those states if they had the power to do so.

Sitting out the 2014 and 2016 elections are just not a sane option.

      •  You're absolutely right. They cannot be allowed (7+ / 0-)

to gain control of all branches of government.

Despite all their rhetoric in a divided government, you will find out what they REALLY think of the Constitution if they are given total control.

And you will find it's not much.

doing with what various State Legislatures are doing and it can't be clearer.

Why so many don't see that baffles me.

Given the ties between the Federalist Society, the Heritage Foundation, ALEX, et al, with what is the Republican Party, it's pretty clear were we'd end up and it's far from anything that we'd recognize except for the Confederacy.

      •  I can attest to that (5+ / 0-)

Living in Kansas, with a radical Republican majority that passed massive business tax cuts last year, and tax cuts for the wealthy.
Then they realized if they didn't slash the budget, we would be a billion dollars in the hole in 2014.
        So what do they do?
Ended tax credits for working poor.
Ended child care deductions and mortgage interest deductions.
Raised the sales tax (which is also on food), making Kansas the state with the highest sales taxes in the region.
Slashed K-12 education and support for state universities.
Passed draconian abortion laws and stupid anti-gun control laws.
That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Far too many are not paying attention to what is happening on the State level and making the connection.
