    If millions of people — or even just the several hundred thousand on Daily Kos — raise consistent holy hell at Thought Police antics from the government, we stand a chance of stopping it.

    We have to take that chance, especially when the alternative is quietly frogmarching to Room 101.

      call Obama a tyrant last week. Just saying I doubt they'd call him a tyrant if they actually feared he was a tyrant.

        ... the problem is that in making the difference between tyranny and not-tyranny a matter of current administration policy, that implies we are building a system which makes tyranny just a matter of changing the administration to one that changes the policy.

        If the answer to the question of "why are you building a tyranny switch" is, "but, I've directed my administration to leave the switch in the off position" ... that is an admission that the foundations for tyranny are being laid.
