  •  I've never been given any trouble by our (5+ / 0-)

customs/immigration agents here in the US. But I've entered the UK four times. Two of the times, it was younger guys, probably no older than 30 who checked my passport and they were questioning me about my travels and giving me a little bit of trouble. Two other times, it was older ladies, one didn't say two words and just stamped my passport and the other one was the friendliest person I've ever met working in any position of authority and was cracking jokes and making smalltalk. So definitely a noticeable difference between age.

Granted, I realize as a non UK citizen and a visitor,  they have every right to question me and my reasons for entering the country but an American staying there for a week for non-business purposes generally shouldn't raise any red flags.

with British and American passports, and almost every time I go to the US there is some kind of hassle. One nice older man from TSA/DFW asked me if I was from Brooklyn because someone with my name on the watch list is, and apologised. I never have trouble in Europe or even in Russia, or returning to the UK. but we have to be careful about scheduling connecting flights in the US because getting through border control is often a long drawn out process.
A friend of mine who used to go to Florida every winter from the UK said that the second time her husband got his wheelchair disassembled was the last, so they go to South Africa now.
