  •  But surprisingly ... "such is not the case" (0+ / 0-)

because if it WERE, we'd expect the terrorist-friendly media to be carrying on about the "rape of our women" with something like the frequency and intensity of their  outrage at incidents of  "disrespect of our holy books."

    Now why is that ?

It is probably because the lower levels of the our higher echelons in the military have made it abundantly clear that they won't tolerate any kind of abuse of civilian women by on-duty personnel.   Indeed, part of the reason that American women are IN combat situations in the first place is so that they can interact with the local women without generating incidents that reflect badly on the men, the mission and the chain of command.

So ... why can't they issue similar crystal clear orders considering treatment of comrades in arms who happen to be female ?

Sometimes I think it's "They don't WANT to" ... and sometimes I think it's "They don't HAVE to."

Take away  a few stars away from a few generals who have more than one ... suddenly they WILL "want to" -- I betcha !

(Hey, the got the Navy to stop smoking cigarettes and brawling with Marines -- a miraculous transformation judging by the norms and attitudes expressed in the Battle Cry genre of WWII literature )
