    and $8,000 CAT scans, as priced by the hospital?  If you tell a hospital that you will be paying cash, your price will be a small fraction of what they would otherwise bill your insurance company.

    This price inflation scam is a two way street. The hospitals and the insurance companies may be on opposing sides, but that doesn't make either honest or right.  They both price gouge each other like there is no tomorrow.  And the result is passed on to us in the form of unaffordable insurance premiums and deductible.  Any serious reform must address both issues.

    The real question is whether either party is willing to stand up to the drug and insurance lobbies and do what is best for America.
    I just want to be clear that we need to stand up also to the hospital lobby. I wasn't sure if you were referring to the hospitals when you say "providers." And yes, I support the concept of single payer 100%. To both eliminate private insurance gouging and provider gouging.
