    that a Republican is willing to make this argument.

    But yes, the GOP as a party is committed to the idea of private profit as a consummate social good. So this idea won't fly with them.

    And as for a conservative third party? The only viable impetus for that within the GOP is the Libertarian wing, which is, if anything, even more committed to private profit.

      In approximately the same numbers as we have Blue Dogs. And once again it becomes populated with moderates. This used to be true and with a 21st century re-birth of New Deal, socially progressive, Keynesian policies it could happen again.

      In fact, statistically it's probably the most likely scenario when you look at 50+ year cycles. There is some chance that by the end of the decade we could see the start of such a resurgence. A long shot at this time, but not by any means impossible. A tipping point that falls away from Reaganism / Neoconservatism/ Neo-Fascism is not that improbable. And that would produce rapid change.
