States and military contractors will want to get the bill passed.

In a pilot program in Arizona, it cost about $1 billion to build the system across 53 miles of the state’s border.

This number is much higher than what Bush originally planned.

under President George W. Bush, which had been plagued by delays and cost overruns. Originally estimated to cost more than $7 billion to cover the 2,000-mile length of the border,

2,000/ 50 = 40 so Bush’s fence would have cost around 40 billion not the $7 billion he thought. I rounded down to 50 from 53 to make the math easier.

Now imagine how much a 2013 fence would cost with Drones and all the new Tech advances we have made since the last fence was made.
