Obama is not the only one who deserves approbation and upon whom pressure needs to be exerted.
He's not even the most significant.  He's one man with a maximum of eight-year term in government.  The people with the strongest long-term influence are judges, and the most potent short-term influence are Congressmen.  A President can point a ship, but he can't run it up a waterfall.
The ACLU has filed with FISC, asking for release of the secret opinon(s) supporting the activity.  It will be interesting to see how the Justice Department responds.  Because that will tell us for good and for all where the Obama administration comes down, and will allow us to proceed on that basis.
Actually it will show where the Justice Department comes down.  Again, 8-year term vs. career lawyers.  I don't think you understand how elected politicians relate to people who spend decades in revolving doors between bureaucracy and high-paid private sector positions.  If the President were to order the opinions released - kind of like he ordered the torture memos released - would be a great move, but we both know he wouldn't get any credit for it, that the revelations in the opinions would either be instantly forgotten if they're innocuous or would just increase certain people's ODS.

Nothing makes a Republican angrier than a smile on a poor child's face.
