  •  Money grab. (8+ / 0-)

I bet the NSA is (secretly) loving this leak. It leads America to believe that the hundreds of billions of dollars spent on this crap actually works (and, thus, is a threat to individual liberty). The fact is, they couldn't catch the Boston bombers before the two idiots succeeded in blowing people up.

That's how shitty all of this stuff is.

It's about defending the State - Full Stop.

We have got to wrap our heads around this. The needs of the State have divorced from the needs of our People. Our government is serving the State at the expense of our People.

The Boston kids didn't threaten the State so they were not important.

Democracy - 1 person 1 vote. Free Markets - More dollars more power.

    •  That was those incompetents at the FBI... (6+ / 0-)

...not the wonderful NSA people (according to an NSA press release I think I read).

Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

      •  Oh, no doubt. (4+ / 0-)

But why wasn't all of this data mining technology figuring out who was doing Google searches on "pressure cooker bombs?"

It's a friggin' joke. The government can't even get electronic medical records figured out at the VA and they've spent millions and millions of dollars over the last decade trying to do it on systems that still don't do what their supposed to do.

I have no doubt these contractors have dollar signs in their eyes on this project. Just like most of the shit Halliburton did in Iraq, this carp won't work, either. But the contractors will be charging for trying to fix it for a decade )or decades) to come.
