    Disaster Recovery plan.   And whether all 4000 servers on that new farm had to be available 99.99% of the time or just 99%.  

    Once you've seen how the sausage is made, you can never go back....

        But actually that would surprise me for a data warehouse like this.  It's not like this data is keeping planes in the air or something.  I think it's fine if NSA has to re-submit their query every now and then...

        (I imagine the system displaying a custom icon of a jaunty cartoon terrorist, shrugging: "Sorry -- something happened.  Please wait five minutes and re-submit your query")

      for a company that was hit by 9/11. It was more about floor captains and exit paths than tech recovery, but I completed it a year and a half before 9/11 and I keep thinking about whether my work, which was meticulous, helped save lives. I never had the nerve to call someone and ask. It seemed insensitive.
