    1) A bunch of guys on Wall Street almost plunged the US economy into a collapse in 2008 -- an act of deliberate sabotage averted only by the expenditure of $7 TRILLION of our tax dollars.

And yet the same Washington crowd that said "Who could have KNOWN?" are now trying to justify having the NSA crawl up OUR butts with a flashlight.

Anyone notice all those surveillance cameras looking at you as you travel down an urban street nowdays?   Why aren't any of those cameras in the offices of hedge fund managers?   Or the back rooms of Congress?

is the observer, not the observed.

Wall street is at the center of the panopticon.

When you look at the history of our intelligence agencies, especially the CIA, you'll see the clear connections.

If debt were a moral issue then, lacking morals, corporations could never be in debt.

      •  Bingo (0+ / 0-)

Wall Street and the government are one entity at this point. You know what the technical definition of that is? Yeah, fascism.

        •  That's not really true (0+ / 0-)

The quote that is supposedly from Mussolini is actually apocryphal. He never said that, and corporatismo is not corporotism as we would think of it, it is closer to what Hobbes lays out in Leviathan. Fascism is more than just joined government and corporations.

    •  Too powerful. It's not meant for them. (0+ / 0-)

It's meant to keep us from bothering them while they strip-mine our culture.

      Wall St that is.

But if you think information isn't being gathered on politicians, I've got a bridge in NY to sell you, kemosabe.

What better way to keep all of Capitol Hill permanently under your thumb?

Defending the theft of our freedom by the government is not a legitimate difference of opinion on a political matter -- it is a deeply un-American attitude that deserves nothing but scorn and derision.--Dallasdoc
