    question. Are you asking why the cold pool starts moving in the first place?

    If so, it's because the vertical wind shear makes the storms start moving around and form into lines, which gets the storms (and their cold pools) moving in one direction.

    If you say "gullible" real slow, it sounds like "green beans."

      I was worried about the dynamics of an individual cold pool.  The behavior of the storm system -- its linearity, e.g. -- seems knowable from the scale size of persistent perturbations in the physics.  

      Can't ask for too much specificity in a grossly chaotic system, after all.
