I don't often agree with Brooks, but I think he  hit it spot on. I feel the same way about Manning, Assange and Greenwald.  They all seem to be Suffering from feelings of importance with no good reason.

Yes, there's an element of truth there.  After thirty years of "there is no such thing as society," now conservatives are blaming young people for not respecting social traditions.

Why should the powerless be bound by traditions, when the powerful aren't bound by anything?

When one of the Facebook billionaires defected to Singapore, were the conservatives decrying the fraying of the social fabric?  Hell no, they were celebrating sticking it to the man!

Greed is good. Power is good. The powerful have no obligation to obey the constitution, but if some low level techie tries to stop the crimes... fry 'em.

In an odd way, Brooks is echoing Edward Gibbon.  Decline and fall happen because those people don't respect their obligations to society, harrumph, harrumph.

God forbid that society might have any obligation to non-billionaires.

What are you doing to fight the dangerous and counterproductive error of treating dirtbag terrorist criminals as though they were comic book supervillains? I can't believe we still have to argue this shit, let alone on Daily Kos.
