is also blasting through the Ohio legislature, as part of the "budget" bill, a real travesty. It must be an ALEC thing , it's so coordinated. They are very close to making it impossible for women without money to get an abortion, short of going to a back alley. Look for the number of Dr. Gosnells to explode. It's all about punishing women for being poor and female and daring to have sex.

    Jon Husted is a dick.

I'm not sure if it's ALEC or just pandering to the RTL crowd in advance of elections.  As fast as this thing is marching through the Legislature, I'm surprised it's not getting attention (except that it's a hidden story).

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.

ALEC boilerplate originates from the wealthy, greedy privateers, and corporate plutocrats. There isn't any money to be made by banning abortion. So ALEC has little interest in this.

Some of the individuals who drive the anti-choice attacks participate in ALEC and the rabid right religious organizations.

So yes, it's ALEC, sort of.

    •  I don't think ALEC cares. At least not now. (2+ / 0-)

A little google search shows that they were once deep into the anti-abortion and anti-Equal Rights Amendment groups, now not so much - they got taken over by the corporatists.

some of the organization's corporate sponsors had grown uncomfortable with its activism on social issues. They quoted a corporate government affairs officer (who asked not to be identified) as saying: "We like ALEC's conservatism and pro-business attitude. But abortion, school prayer, and the like are just not issues for us. We nod and accept the rest of it but we aren't supportive of it. You have to grin and bear it."
My impression is that right now they are in it for the $$$$$. Privatize all forms of government for their own personal enrichment, and take away from the citizens the tools to keep corporations in check. Put us all in perpetual thralldom to our corporate overlords.

To them, abortion is a sideshow, a distraction from the real agenda.
