    Let's be careful about attributing the low Latino turnout strictly to ethnicity. Young people don't vote either, and Latinos comprise the youngest demographic cohort.

    It's also true that the Texas Democratic Party is in disarray and that the black-Latino-youth-women-white liberal coalition critical to turning the tide in Texas is extremely difficult to build and hold together.

    If the DNC could see past the next election, it would invest in leadership development and coalition-building in Arizona and Texas. Bring those states into the fold and it is game for the foreseeable future.

    Unrelated to this topic, but the other strategic goal for the Democratic party should be to hold the governorships of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida in 2020 (when redistributing happens).
