      if they even acknowledged that the jobs weren't going to locals.

      There's a lot of people here willing to work but they're not hiring us. Although TV commercials talk about jobs, the fracking companies at local meetings and in the local newspaper talk more about "money going into the local economy". They try to downplay the jobs thing.

      The only people hiring out of this are service jobs, especially hotels. A lot of people I ride the bus with work at the hotels by the highway now. The rooms are packed with frackers from out of state.

      Some would say that I'm off my gourd. I would say that I am a gourd.

      Just about all the technical oil jobs go wherever the oil/gas is, and there's only a few states that actually train people in the oil and gas industry (Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, some others to a lesser degree)

      Other extraction industries are similar.  Training locals is generally not practical, as there'd be a huge additional time lag, plus you'd lose all the experience the dedicated personnel have.
