  •  I think there was a toll road in KS (3+ / 0-)

that used to write you speeding tickets based off of when you went through the 1st toll booth and the last one.

The math is easy but they eventually made them quit writing those tickets.

a cross country trip. I don't remember getting on any toll roads but that doesn't prevent the State of Colorado from sending tickets to me at my home address monthly, claiming I didn't pay some toll.

around the metro area... we have very few toll roads here, but a few, and they get things wrong periodically.

I have a classic car that I drive VERY infrequently and they sent me a ticket a few years back and I told them clearly that there was no way in hell that car went out on that day, or even that month. Sure enough their review of the license plate picture was wrong, but if you drive thru Denver it's easy to get routed on to one of those rare toll spurs without realizing it....

and then "BIG DATA" finds your licence plate out of millions, gets your Address, and there you are. Ticket! Ain't technology wonderful??? And I'm a software Guy who has been doing Advanced Image Processing software for decades, I know how this stuff works....

Now we have a lot of red-light cameras around, some timed very tightly. So in the summer I tend to throw some mud on the back of the car. If a cop stops me because of a hard-to-read license plate, well, I'll be happy to clean it up, but that's not illegal... Sort of a "V for Vendetta" for the car, y'know...

Without geometry, life is pointless. And blues harmonica players suck.
