  •  I heard a long documentary of the case (1+ / 0-)

Leslie Salzillo the time it was happening. From that description, she went into the garage to try to escape by car. She realized she did not have her keys, and the garage door was locked, so she could neither leave via car nor get the garage door open. She then retrieved the gun to protect herself since she had to re-enter the house in order to get by this guy. This guy had already beaten the crap out of her once, and was threatening her life this time around. Plus she'd just given birth the week before, so she was also protecting a child in the house.

This was the story as I heard it presented from someone who was covering the case as it proceeded in court.

    •  I just pointed out what the judge said. (0+ / 0-)

In court, judge > reporter every time. I just offered the judge's words as a decision point. I fail to see why that isn't supremely relevant? Oh, and the appellate court will not be reading the reporter's article so there's that too.

I too watched this discussed between reporters and lawyers and the fact that she was able to leave his presence and return was what the legal experts agreed was the key. Believe what you will, it's your right, but in this case, those that matter saw it differently.

It is was it is even if I do not like it or agree with. I fail to see the point in pretending that what I believe didn't carry the day.

I'll leave you to continue to on with this point, but it is done. I have long ago stop being surprised at unjust outcomes in our criminal justice system. Perhaps this is something new to you and if so, I'm sorry you are finding this out.

The politicians may be bought, and the system corrupt, but it is our duty to fix these things.

      •  No it's fine (0+ / 0-)

..I'm just wondering what part of what I heard was inaccurate. If she was unable to escape via the garage because it was locked, I don't know how it can be true to say she "re-entered" if exit via the garage was not possible and he was continuing to come after her.

It could be that the report I heard was inaccurate. I just don't know which part of it was.
