  •  Ooohhhh (6+ / 0-)

Swaying buildings scare the crap out of me.  I have been told there are supposed to do that but I don't like it.  On a trip to Vegas I was talked into going to the top if the stratosphere to look at the rollercoaster up there.  I did, then waiting for th elevator to get the hell back down I heard this creaking noise.  It was two parts of the elevator shaft rubbing together as the building moved.  I was most unhappy.

    •  The building does sway - markedly (4+ / 0-)

When the wind blows over about 20mph you can see the chandelier rocking and the water in the toilet moves. It was more scary before we got the new windows. But 70 mph gusts - I'll seriously be in the enclosed foyer.

I'll be in my basement, there is plenty of room but the crazy two and five year olds are not gonna like it.

That's not a location I'd ever want to hear extraneous noises.

In my case, this is one of Chicago's many downtown skyscrapers that have some "wiggle room" engineered/built in. At least I wasn't in the Sears Tower!
