  •  Part of the problem is ourselves. (9+ / 0-)

One reason that politicians over-reach on terrorism is the fear that they will pay a political price if there is another terrorist attack if they don't. They'd rather over-reach and be able to say, "I did everything I could." The government is out of control, but one of the biggest reasons is the American Sheeple.

Recall the Terror Alerts -- Sunny today with a chance of Terror Attacks in the late afternoon.

And every speech is loaded with "I'll Keep you safe".

But yeah the  American Sheeple are like Pavlov's dog.

      •  And here we are (6+ / 0-)

after another terrorist attack on US soil, where the massive surveillance state did not prevent it, and the war machine and WoT did not prevent it, in fact.... it caused it.

        But nobody talks about that.

And nobody talks about how the soft on terror Democrats didn't prevent Boston either, so the whole ruse about how Dems are afraid of being blamed and that's why they are warmongers is a bunch of bunk.

It's about the money and the power. It's always been about the money and the power.  It's not about the Democrats being afraid of being seen as too weak. That's just another excuse that the D base uses to try to forgive their party leaders who constantly sell them out.  It's just like the "Obama means well but he's just a bad negotiator" excuse.  It's all bullshit and part of the kabuki that is necessary to keep us thinking that there still IS a Democratic party.
