  •  My wife had a miscarriage and we took it very hard (8+ / 0-)

but time usually heals (it also helped to talk to so many friends that had a miscarriage or their wives had a miscarriage).  We already had a daughter and a few months later my wife was pregnant again (twin boys, yipee)!

This is a most personal thing that belongs in our family, among our close friends (or spiritual leaders if we choose those) and with our doctors, but never never never with our government.  It is very sick and ironic that the "smaller government" and "government out of our lives" Teapublicans insist on legislating what happens in our bedrooms, our doctors offices and women's vaginas, but the irony is completely lost on them.

Years ago, I was "tabling" (gathering signatures on petitions) for People For Choice in a very conservative town.  A father and daughter walked by and saw our signs.  The daughter said, "oooh, killing babies."  The father replied, "Do you want the government telling you what to do with your body?!"

I've never forgotten that and have used it often on people with libertarian / anti-government views.  It resonates with them:  "If you give the government the power to say you can't have an abortion, you've also given them the power to say you must have an abortion."

To stand in silence when they should be protesting makes cowards out of men. -Abraham Lincoln
