      I'm originally from the deep south and have close relatives in Virginia (via job transfer), including a niece.

      It really wouldn't matter though.  I figured out a long time ago that what happens in one state affects us all, sooner or later.  As we've all seen, especially lately, rightwing victories in red states embolden their counterparts in purple (and even blue) states.  

      I'm constantly surprised at what seems to be the increasing level of insanity and increasing visibility of that insanity in Virginia's right wing.  The state is a huge battleground right now.  November's election could be a real turning point and I'm watching it closely.

        state?  Remember that Obama won there?  Yet here we are, with a brand new ultrasound requirement before women can make their own decision about their constitutionally protected right.

        Maybe we should require people to take an English class before they have the right to speak.  Makes just as much sense.
