  •  Still more wild speculation: (4+ / 0-)

Maybe he thinks being so close to the Mainland authorities is something to hold over the heads of the US authorities?

I celebrated his original revelations and continue to.  The new stuff?  Like mallyroyal said above, it's too soon to tell, but HK is either a really naive choice, or he may be figuring something strategic.  If he were a garden variety spy, why wouldn't he just have gone to a major rival without fanfare?

Weird.  I'm still very, very happy about the original revelations, though.

A slower bleed out is not a sustainable alternative.

about the original revelations because, you know, they suck all kinds of dog shit, but I'm glad the NSA was outted about it.

It's getting more and more difficult to have a modicum of faith in the United States Fucking Government™.

      •  I was actually sucker enough (5+ / 0-)

To think Iraq had WMDs.  Not that I thought we should go to war, mind you.  I was so very pissed at myself for actually having enough faith in the Bush administration to be suckered by it.

While I am glad this info is coming out, this time I have pretty much had already assumed the NSA was doing this sort of thing years ago.

I haven't lost faith since I didn't have it in the first place.

        •  Heh. (3+ / 0-)

Well, I would like to have faith. Faith is nice and good and makes things kind of light and happy on occasion.

I just realize how the above sounds, and I would like to assure to everyone here that I'm not smoking any kind of green, skunky substance presently.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

        •  IIRC, we DID give Iraq WMDs (0+ / 0-)

when they were at war with Iran. Floating around the web is a picture of Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam Hussein at the time.

        •  It takes a real 'man' or real 'woman' to confess (0+ / 0-)

he or she made a mistake of this sort. I salute your bravery and fundamental decency in so doing.

I wish we could get Desmond Tutu over here to run a Truth and Reconciliation Commission for all of our utterly disgraced officials (including one of my two Senators, Feinstein, and one of my former Reps, Harman).

          Vain hope, I know.
