  •  I don't want to be in a fight. You are a wonderful (13+ / 0-)

and valued member of this community and your thoughts, feelings and perceptions are certainly important.

I would disagree with you on one point and that is that there are a lot of DK people who want to "ruin the president."

I think Barack Obama (and especially Michelle) is a fine human being, burdened with awesome and weighty responsibility, a good family man, a good father, thoughtful, intelligent and considerate. I believe he wants the best for this country.

I could say none of those things about Bush (any of them).

However, I think he is simply wrong on the NSA thing. Completely wrong.  When Total Information Awareness (TIA) raised its ugly head under W Bush, there was an outcry that it be shut down.

I don't think it ever was. I think it went underground, without Congressional approval and was funded through the black budgets of the NSA, OIA, and other intelligence agencies.

Today, we know that TIA is alive and well and sucking up information on all of us.

That's just wrong. It is wrong morally, Constitutionally, ethically, and politically.  It is the wrong thing to do for the country.

I think the President has made a mistake in supporting this program and furthering these efforts.  BUT, that is one sphere of his decision-making and influence.

That does not, then, mean he's rotten in every way. I don't want to destroy him, I want him to change his mind. I want him to do the right thing.

Disagreeing with someone shouldn't mean there is an assumption that means there's an opinion "he should be destroyed."

At any rate, the NSA and this reincarnation of TIA is simply wrong. There is no way it will ever be right.

But that doesn't affect the fact that I believe you and many others are valued and welcome members of the community.
