This doesn't really silence victims. What it does is leave them with nothing but to complain about their abuse. New Jersey's current statute of limitations runs out before a victim has even had a chance to finish college. That's just not enough.

I was raised Catholic, and stayed in the Church until the whole global child-rape scandal completely destroyed my faith. I was not abused, nor was anyone I knew abused by a priest. In fact, I look to the fine priest I had growing up to remind me that there are a lot of good men in the Church. At least I hope so. This is why I understand how hard it would be for a victim to come forward. When you are raised Catholic, you are raised to believe that Priests stand a little taller than mere mortals, because they have been called by God. I can't imagine the strength and courage a kid would have to muster to set that conditioning aside and complain to the authorities.

That a corrupre criminal conspiracy like the RCC would spend a small fortune to make sure the statute of limitations runs out first does not surprise me. It just disgusts me.

Workers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your shackles. It is by the picket line and direct action that true freedom will be won, not by electing people who promise to screw us less than the other guy.
