  •  Happy Friday! Cocktail Time! (5+ / 0-)

Well, it's been hotter than Hades here in Tucson.

    How hot is it?

Well, it's so hot, I can make a cup of tea running the "cold" water out of my tap!

    Rimshot!

Seriously, if you try to get cold water out of the tap at 5:00 PM, you have to wait until 8:00 PM until it gets cold.

    Anyhoo...

I'd like to start a new feature on Friday C&J, offering alternative potables to the one proffered by our gregarious and loquacious host.

I shall call it:  Friday Night Libations

The thought behind this is to get drun...er...spirit epicureans like myself to try something new and to suggest seasonal cocktails that reflect the weather and the mood of the day.

Tonight's offering:  The St. Germain Cocktail

St. Germain is a liqueur made from elderflowers.  It has a gorgeous sweet and floral nose.  This liqueur is meant to mixed with other liquids to add a sweet, floral note.

The St. Germain Cocktail is quite easy to make, light and delicious on a warm summer night.

    St. Germain Cocktail

2 parts champagne or dry sparkling white wine
    1.5 parts St-Germain
    2 parts club soda

Fill a Collins glass with ice. First, add St-Germain, then champagne, then club soda. Stir well, and garnish with a lemon twist.

Or, an alternative, in a tall champagne flute, pour 1 oz St. Germain, top with champagne or sparkling dry wine to 1 inch from the top, top off with club soda or sparkling water.

Either way, this is a refreshing light cocktail to start off your evening!

I could eat a bowl of alphabet soup and shit a better argument than that.
