  •  I just sent a note to Walter Jones to thank him (7+ / 0-)

    for his vote - for a conservative Republican, he's actually not too bad on many issues.  For example, he has consistently voted against the reauthorization and extension of the USA PATRIOT Act.

    While there, I read this on his website:  

    WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) and Congressman Michael Capuano (MA-7) introduced the We Are Watching You Act to prevent new technology for digital video recorders (DVRs) from infringing on the privacy of American citizens.  This legislation comes in response to several companies who have filed patent applications for devices that would collect personal information about consumers while they are watching television in order to target advertising.  The new technology would watch and listen to consumers with a camera and microphone, determine age and gender, note thermal image, and include facial recognition capabilities.
    He's not perfect, but better by far than most Republicans.
