  •  I can't say that I have high hopes (8+ / 0-)

For Democratic fortunes in Missouri, despite our senate and gubernatorial wins there last year. As former state Sen. Jeff Smith has explained, it really has transformed from a one-time bellwether into a reliably conservative state. I would expect Republican-turned-Democrat Chris Koster, the current AG, to run for governor in 2016, but he's from St. Louis, so that doesn't help with your western MO location, I'm afraid!

    •  Getting on MLS and looking for a new (5+ / 0-)

house elsewhere. Colorado is looking mighty fine these days.

      •  Just try to pick a section (5+ / 0-)

that isn't on fire, though! :-o

Colorado is a beautiful state. We looked there at one point, but couldn't find anything that would work for us. It remains one of my favorite places to go, however.

Fry, don't be a hero! It's not covered by our health plan!

      •  It's wonderful =) Housing market picked up, (0+ / 0-)

it's getting tight. Climate is pretty good. People are nice. We kicked out a bunch of GOPers last year, and our legislature is accomplishing great things =)

Not a lot of biting bugs, and every day is a good hair day: humidity is practically nil.

The Colorado Kossacks that I met are a friendly bunch =)

    •  Keeping with the MO theme... (1+ / 0-)

...since Jay Nixon will be term-limited in 2016 anyway, do you think he'll try to remove a second member of the Blunt family from office by running for the Senate?

He's probably our last best hope in that state for a while.

      •  I'd be surprised (6+ / 0-)

If Nixon ran for Senate, but you never know. He has cultivated his non-partisan image very carefully, which is a lot easier to do when you're a governor, especially when the legislature is rock-solid Republican. It becomes a whole different story when you run for a federal office like senator.

That said, unless Nixon wants to ride off in the sunset, does he have a better option? I can't imagine him ever becoming the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, and even vice president would be a big stretch. So maybe Senate is his best bet. What say you?

Could be cultivatign that image for a reason!  We can only hope, anyway.

        •  If Missouri were still a bellwether state, (1+ / 0-)

I could see Nixon making the VP short list, but since it isn't, the Senate is pretty much the only place left for him to go.

I do hope he'll consider running; 2016 is already full of juicy Senate pickup opportunities, and I'd love to see Missouri become one of them!
