Strangely enough, a lot of these legislators are not from the South.  Pat McCrory, the governor, has been here since he was about 10 years old, but was born in Ohio.

      Talk about "outside agitators"!

Just because the government keeps a record of real property transfers, it doesn't mean that the government wants to confiscate your home.

      •  even the religious groups are that way (0+ / 0-)

I know that in my home town, which is very conservative and very religious, the appearance of many of the fundy-anti-abortion groups (like the one that Eric Rudolph, who is also not originally from NC, was affiliated with) moved into the mountains of NC from the Mid West.  These aren't all "homegrown" religious groups at all, despite the fact that NC has been home to large scale evangelical organizations for a long time.

There is still room for irony, or hubris in this world.  The way that non-Southerners have utilized "the Southern strategy" as a way to gain a foothold in the Southern states and then build their movements out from there.

        •  People like John Tedesco (0+ / 0-)

Wake County School Board--ideas often attributed to "Southerners"--born in New York City, didn't move to NC until 2004.
