  •  On Pot (3+ / 0-)

The irony is this- In 2 decades, we'll be looking back on the OBama presidency as the time when Cannabis was legalized.

    Isn't that interesting?

A lot of people will be unhappy about that.  I mean, that we have to asociate Obama's name with that situation, but I can't imagine any of this going back in the bottle.

    •  The ultimate irony is all the wasted money and (11+ / 0-)

lives in the already lost war against pot.

      •  That's not irony (9+ / 0-)

        That's tragedy.

But I made a real ethical decision to get a medical card here.  I realize that other people don't take it as seriously.  I didn't want to be taking advantage of a system that provided life saving support for people who were dying.

I'm not dying.  I have epilepsy.  MMJ helps with that.

So the places that got shut down here in Seattle were the places that were really breaking the state laws.  They were selling to unauthorized people, they were selling pounds out the back door.  They were doing stupid stuff like posting pictures of themselves with bags of money...

The US attorney made it very clear that she wanted businesses to be able to operate with the state law.

Understanding that it's wrong, and understanding how to change the law are two different things.

We can talk about how wrong it is, but we are really at the crossroads of a generational change, and that means that it will come along slowly.  Especialy considering that a generational change like this is subject to decisions being made by people in charge of departments.  Those are older people who have lived through a different era.

As those people fade out, the situation will change even more.

The threads on this thing are decaying, and we just have to keep picking at the seem.  It's going  away.
