    they might be doing what you say, but the title is not the proof of it.

    They could just be demanding a kill switch the consumer can use after reporting it stolen, or they might be demanding exactly what you are saying.  I don't think its clear.

    There is a solid reason why they might want the consumer to have the kill switch...of all the things the cops want to deal with, stolen Iphones would be low on the list.  If consumers would just kill their phones after a short call, the cops would be happy about it.

    And no, I don't trust the cops.  My only point here is about the proof, or lack thereof in your link.

    Basically, all I am saying is that there is a lack of specificity in the article that makes any reading of the specifics of how the kill switch will work unknown.
